Chef Tony Messina is officially in as the new executive chef at Uni Sashimi Bar at Clio in the Eliot Hotel. A tipster shares that news and a rep for Uni confirms that Messina is now in the kitchen: go there tonight and you'll sample his creations. Messina spent the past few months training under sushi chef Chris Chung at AKA Bistro in Lincoln, who used to work for Ken Oringer, the owner of Uni and four other restaurants including Toro, Coppa, and La Verdad. (Soon he'll own a Toro in NYC, too.) Messina takes the spot of Chris Gould, who left Uni to start his own restaurant in Portland, ME. Bartender Justin Ito-Adler also recently made the move to Clio and Uni.
