Construction Starting at Bigger-Than-Expected Bronwyn

One of the most anticipated fall openings looks like it has a lot of work to do in the next few months, but Bronwyn in Union Square is now under construction in the former space of Ronnarong Thai Tapas Bar. It appears to be expanding on the existing tiny space, though, as the right wall has been completely torn down, leading to an empty adjacent area, and a permit on the window confirms that "two existing commercial spaces" will be combined into one. The interior has been entirely gutted, and the permit confirms that everything will be new, from the plumbing and electric to the floor, walls, ceiling, bathrooms, and built-in furniture.

The upcoming "European style bistro" is owned by Tim and Bronwyn Wiechmann of T.W. Food, and an earlier Craigslist posting for a sous chef gave a bit of a sneak peek at the potential offerings, an intriguing blend of Germany (sausages) and Italy (regional pastas) with French influences and a New England approach. Perhaps most importantly, there will be an outdoor beer garden.
