Even though the Tip Tap Room has only been open for four months, Brian Poe is already looking forward to the opening of an even newer venture, a Southern restaurant called Estelle's in the South End. Eric Gburski, currently chef at Poe's Kitchen at the Rattlesnake and previously chef and general manager of East Coast Grill, will head up Estelle's kitchen. Gordon Wilcox (of Parish Cafe) is also involved.
The 70-seat restaurant-to-be hasn't revealed anything about the menu yet aside from a "Southern cuisine" hashtag on Twitter, but a couple new construction photos have popped up lately: utilities work outside and a bright reddish orange wall inside. A previous sneak peek revealed a hint of a kitchen in the corner of a small room.
Last week in a blog post for the Herald, Poe merely described Estelle's as "soon-to-open" and noted that he and Gburski would be doing some "experimental menu work" that week.
