Charley's on Newbury Street is indeed closing as feared earlier after the group that runs the restaurant failed to negotiate a new lease, despite a year of trying. A representative for Charley's says that the restaurant closed at midnight last night. Charley's had been owned by Tavistock Restaurants since the company acquired Back Bay Restaurant Group last year, which also runs Abe & Louie's, Atlantic Fish Co., Joe's American Bar & Grill and Coach Grill. First sentence of the final Yelp review: "I LOVE CHARLEY'S!" Charley's served hearty pub fare like fish n' chips, ribs, steaks, burgers and pizza. Another location remains open at the Chestnut Hill Mall.
