While the name looks like a teenager texted it, BoMa is apparently an African word for "safe haven" and not an awkward abbreviation for Boston, MA. It opens in "a couple weeks" in the South End, according to Grub Street Boston. Located in the former space of Bombay Club and Pho Republique, BoMa will serve regional American foods with the now ubiquitous focus on seasonal, local ingredients. The restaurant is owned by Shane Manfred, who also owns a trattoria in Wakefield and a bistro in Sudbury, and the chef is reportedly Chris Bussell, who has had stints at the defunct Butterfish as well as Ten Tables and Foundry on Elm.
