The results are in from the November tips dispute lawsuit by the waitstaff of the Harvard Club of Boston, whose two locations include five different private dining venues. The Globe hears from a letter to club members that the staff and the club have reached "a tentative $4 million settlement" born out of "a misleading 17 percent surcharge on food and beverage bills... that appeared to be a gratuity" though the club has a no-tipping policy. The Globe reports that the club isn't affiliated with Harvard University - though it uses the Harvard logo and its website declares "Alumni from every school at Harvard... enjoy membership privileges at the Harvard Club of Boston" - and yet the Harvard Faculty Club was hit with "a nearly identical lawsuit" just yesterday.
