Tasty Burger's new takeout-only Southie location opened Saturday, slinging the same burgers, dogs, and shakes as the flagship Fenway location, which is full-service. While the new location lacks seating, alcohol, and a pool table, it does offer something that the Fenway location does not: breakfast. Egg & cheese sandwich combos with a choice of meat and drink will be available seven days a week, starting at 8 AM.
While the original proposal included a 40-seat patio, the Franklin Group, owners of Tasty Burger as well as the Franklin Cafe and Citizen Public House, ended up nixing the patio after area residents expressed concerns about noise. While diners will currently have no choice but to grab their food and go, delivery is also in the works, according to Boston.com.
Meanwhile, a third outpost is on the way in the coming weeks as well. One of the most anticipated fall openings, the Harvard Square Tasty Burger will be full-service like the Fenway location, also featuring beer, wine, and pool. It's expected to open this month.
