It's official: the biggest Coolidge Corner opening in recent memory goes into effect today with the debut of Hops N Scotch on Beacon Street. The bar and restaurant comes from the owner of the nearby Coolidge Corner Wine and Spirits (not a bad way to suss out the neighborhood's tastes) and features a pretty huge selection of brown and beige liquids that will make you feel nice. After a soft-opening over the weekend, today the self-described "gastrolounge" officially begins pouring 80 craft beers - 30 of which are on draft - and just as many varieties of bourbon and scotch. An early Yelper is "stoked" to have Hops N Scotch in the neighborhood, and reports favorably on dishes like Scotch egg, a pork chop "topped with apple-poblano chutney," beer-braised short rib and chocolate bread pudding.
