John Harvard's Brewery & Ale House in Harvard Square is preparing to reopen after what a rep describes as "a large scale renovation" and rebranding. Expect the renovated John Harvard's to be pouring suds again by the middle of next month. One interesting change: the menu will now feature a section devoted to "spent grain pizzas" including a margherita and a goat cheese and arugula pie that use "grain from the brewing process" in the crust. Très closed-loop! The twenty-year old brewpub opened in Cambridge and has since spawned expansions elsewhere in the state and in New York and Rhode Island.
