OTTO Pizza Now Near BU

OTTO Pizza, a chainlet based in Portland, ME, has now opened its third Boston area location at 888 Commonwealth Ave in BU country. Others can be found in Harvard Square and in Coolidge Corner. And here's the kicker: the space used to be an Upper Crust, the local pizza chain currently embroiled in a tapestry of controversy. A rep for OTTO tells Eater that the new location had a "very soft" opening on Saturday and is now totally open in every way. There are seven craft beers on tap, a "pretty robust" wine list, 50 to 60 seats and even a little patio section.

This OTTO features the "core menu" of pizzas available at all five locations and may include some unique specials as time goes on. The best-known pizza would have to be "The Masher," which combines mashed potatoes, bacon and scallions and which was recognized by the Food Network as one of the fifty best pizzas in the country. A blog post by OTTO says they hope to make delivery service from the new location an option soon. Oh, BU students...
