BACK BAY - Wowza. A 4-BR, 2.5-BA, 2,774-square-foot spread at 29 Marlborough Street has hit the rental market for a cool $14,500 a month. Get vaulted ceilings, a designer kitchen, a private elevator, and your own private roof deck.

SOMERVILLE - Mayor Joe Curtatone outlined his vision for a new neighborhood and commercial area in Union Square in a City Hall meeting Aug. 15. We're talking about a $90 million transformation that could add hundreds of new housing units. His plan is ambitious; he is hoping for the Board of Aldermen to approve the plan in two months at the latest, after a public hearing; and then wants to send the plan to the state for approval.

BOSTON - David Bates scoured recent million-dollar sales to see what you don't get for crossing the seven-figure threshold. To wit: At 45 Province in Beacon Hill, a million dollars might put you in the heart of downtown with a custom kitchen and a great view, but it won’t get you 1,000 square feet of living space. Unit #1901, which is 994 square feet, sold recently for $1,025,000; and unit #2307, which is 966 square feet, sold for $1,038,000.
