Workers Protest Alleged Wage Violations at Diva, Bukhara

Restaurant group One World Cuisine (Diva, Dosa Factory, and more) allegedly owes workers more than $50,000 in wages, according to protesters who took to the streets in front of Diva in Davis Square and Bukhara in Jamaica Plain on Thursday. Centro Presente, a Latin American immigrant organization in Massachusetts, collaborated with workers to organize the protests. Other One World Cuisine properties, such as Cafe of India in Cambridge (now closed) and Mumbai Chopstix in Boston, also allegedly withheld wages and overtime.

“I have worked for this company and they did not pay me for months,” Jose Alberto told Wicked Local; he believes he is owed over $2000.

This isn't the first time One World Cuisine has been in hot water over alleged wage violations. Centro Presente approached them last year with a similar set of complaints and negotiated a settlement around $17,000.
