Although he's been unambiguous in publicly expressing his beef with Chick-fil-A, Mayor Menino admits that he can't legally prevent the company from opening here just because of the owner's views on same-sex marriage. Says Menino to the Herald: "I can’t do that. That would be interference to his rights to go there." That said, if you were Chick-fil-A, would you really want to come to a city whose most powerful politician shared a letter saying "I urge you to back out of your plans to locate in Boston" and also vowed to make it "very difficult" for you to get a license? More importantly, is Mayor Menino secretly Batman? It sure sounds like it from this statement, which also appeared in the Herald: "Some people might not like these positions, but as mayor of the city of Boston, you can’t run and hide, and I’ll always protect people’s rights."
