Two-year-old Chelsea barbecue joint Larry J's House of Q closed down a few months ago, reportedly to relocate to the Seaport District. The reports were true: the new location, dubbed Larry J's BBQ Cafe, soft-opened earlier this month at 600 D Street. According to Thrillist, the menu mainly features Texas-style barbecue, although North and South Carolina-style sauces are also available. Dishes include "fire balls" (pepper-flavored meatballs with dipping sauce), crunchy catfish nuggets, a jumbo beef rib described as a "dinosaur bone," smoked potatoes stuffed with beans or meat, and standard barbecue sandwiches and platters (pulled pork, brisket, etc.)
