Just when you thought the Boston burger scene was stuffed to capacity, the Wahlberg brothers' Hingham burger spot Wahlburgers has announced its plans to join the fray. A press release from PR Newswire says that the new Wahlburgers CEO "will focus on growing the Wahlburgers brand with plans to open more nationwide beginning in the Boston area." Previously Mark Wahlberg (yeah, that Mark Wahlberg) said the company had plans to go international, though later a spokesperson said that "nothing has been set in stone yet." But plans to expand to Boston, and beyond, are now clear.
Burgers are so big in Boston right now that the Globe and Boston Magazine both recently devoted lengthy features to the trend, and, in the biggest possible burger news, New York's infamous Shake Shack is also coming to town. In addition to expanding Wahlburgers, chef Paul Wahlberg - the Wahlberg who does the cooking - is also planning on opening a pizza restaurant called GRADI.
