M3 Eyes Next Week Soft-Opening in Davis Square

When rumors collide: Local 149 founder Jason Owens is planning a new Davis Square restaurant with Southern influences and Alfresco seems to be metamorphosing into something new. Put them together and you have the soft-opening for M3, Owens' new venture, slated to open shop in the former Alfresco space next week.

Grub Street reports that M3, shorthand for the canonical meat and three sides of Southern cuisine, will serve "oyster po'boys, smoked mullet dip, chicken n' waffles, charcuterie imported from Virginia, layer cakes, and the occasional head cheese or pig's ear sandwich thrown in for good measure." M3 will also do weekend brunch. But what of those "vintage" beers Chowder picked up on earlier? M3 is part of a massive Somerville food boom which also includes East End Grill, Bronwyn, Amsterdam Falafelshop, Cafe Tango, The Bearded Pig, the Counter Culture coffee school, a wine bar by Dave's Fresh Pasta, maybe La Brasa, and M.F. Dulock Pasture-Raised Meats.
