Amsterdam Falafelshop to Open Next Week in Davis

While earlier reports predicted a soft opening today or tomorrow for Davis Square's newest restaurant, Amsterdam Falafelshop, it seems falafel fans will have to wait a few more days to partake as inspections are not yet complete. Several phone calls went unanswered this morning, but a comment on the restaurant's Facebook page indicates that owner Matt D'Allessio is now hoping to open next week. Meanwhile, the team is finishing training and setting up the restaurant while they await a health inspection. The restaurant will feature falafel sandwiches and salad bowls with a DIY toppings bar that includes everything from tahini to pickled cauliflower, mostly made in-house. Twice-fried Dutch fries ("fritten") and brownies will also be available.
