Neighborhood tipsters who live near Steve's Greek Cuisine on Newbury Street have been weighing in via comment about the restaurant's fate. Recap: Urbanspoon has it listed as "permanently closed" and the restaurant is currently unreachable by phone. Here's what one commenter had to say:

"I live up the street from Steve's and pass it everyday. It's been closed 'for renovations' for a few months with the windows papered over the whole time. For a while there was a 'stop work' order posted."

So the official version seems to be that Steve's is renovating, but something else also appears to be afoot. Either way, it's closed for now.
