Humongous Empire Soft-Opens This Weekend

Empire Asian Restaurant & Lounge, previously called Shrine, plans to open at Fan Pier on the Boston Waterfront this coming weekend, says UrbanDaddy. Empire comes from Big Night Entertainment Group, which opened Gem back in March and which also runs Red Lantern, The Estate, and a trio of venues at Foxwoods. Like Gem, Empire will have a dress code: the venue's website says "business casual will be used as minimal attire guidelines," noting that "shorts and athletic wear are not permitted." Empire will fit 650 and will serve them all trendy Asian dishes like red chili shrimp with Thai basil and potato chips. The drink menu features an "oversized" section with cocktails for four, like the Margarita Mayhem, served in a "hallowed" [sic?] cantaloupe. For a pdf of the full menu, see here.
