Here's a look inside Local 149 founder Jason Owens' new Davis Square Southern ode called M3, which Thrillist says opens tomorrow, June 15 (Yelp reviews suggest that it already soft-opened). For those of you unfamiliar with the land below the Mason-Dixon line, the name stands for meat n' three sides. The new restaurant is proof of Boston's continuing love affair with all foods Southern and of Somerville's increasing hotness as a new restaurant magnet. The 40-seat M3 features over 20 varieties of canned beer and chalkboard tabletops and walls on which patrons can express themselves after sampling all 20 varieties of canned beer. There's also a section of the menu dominated by wine cocktails dubbed "white trash drinks." Food-wise, there's stuffed gulf shrimp, mullet dip (not a hairdo), beer can hen, crab cakes, chicken and waffles and much more. M3 takes the place of the former Alfresco.
