Finally, Yakitori Zai to Soft-Open on June 8

The much-awaited South End Yakitori Zai plans to soft open in one week, on June 8, says UrbanDaddy, who also shares a look at the restaurant's menu. Yakitori Zai promises to expand non-sushi Japanese dining options with dishes like shirauo karaage, or deep fried sardines with matcha and sea salt. Or torikawa ponzu - boiled chicken skin with ponzu - and grilled chicken thigh with white leek. There's also a significant grilled vegetable section of the menu, including shisito, the it-pepper, king trumpet mushrooms and Japanese sticky yams with salt and butter. Yakitori Zai, which was originally called Zai Sushi and Yakitori, also plans to function as a sort of cultural center, with art exhibits and classes in sake pairing, dashi making, and yakitori chef work wear.
