Harpoon's 300-Seat Beer Hall; The End of Ups N Downs

THEATER DISTRICT - Luke O'Neil says the W Hotel is more than just a swank crash pad: it's a bar crawl. "There aren't too many places in the city where you can set up a bar crawl all under one roof, which is why I find myself gravitating toward the three bars at the W Hotel." [Metro]

SEAPORT - The Harpoon Brewery hopes to open a 300-seat beer hall by the end of the year as part of its planned expansion. Besides beer, the venue will serve only pretzels. But wait, a 300-seat beer hall!? [BH]

DORCHESTER - Despite an outpouring of support from patrons, it seems the Ups N Downs in Neponset Circle is selling its liquor license and therefore calling it quits. However the license won't be going to the Tea Party Museum as previously thought, but to a new downtown bar called Sterling’s with a 120-seat patio and a closing time of 2am. [Boston.com]
