Yakitori Zai to Up Boston's Non-Sushi Japanese Offerings

The upcoming South End Japanese restaurant Yakitori Zai may be open by the end of next week, says BosGuy. He reports that "in recent days much of the paper covering the oversized windows that over look Shawmut Avenue and Union Park have come down providing a glimpse of the renovated restaurant space." The restaurant, previously dubbed Zai Sushi and Yakitori, was originally slated for a May 1 opening, and promises to expand the city's Japanese offerings as recently bemoaned by the Globe. Yakitori Zai will also serve as a cultural center and educational facility, offering classes, demonstrations and art exhibits on topics like how to make dashi, sake pairings, Japanese homestyle cooking and grilling.
