Nix's Mate Opens in The Hilton This Month

Nix's Mate, a new restaurant replacing Caliterra in the Downtown Hilton, will open this month. The space will feature a 22-seat bar and a lounge with room for 30 and will serve "New England-inspired cuisine" with an emphasis on local ingredients. The name is New England-inspired too, and refers to one of the harbor islands.

Olives alum David Nevins serves as executive chef and the space will have all of the hallmarks of the new wave of rootsy, rustic, comfort-driven dining, including mason jar lighting fixtures, reclaimed wood, craft beers and classic cocktails. On the menu: grilled yellowfin tuna with braised shiitakes, ginger bok choi, black bean butter and soy glaze. Also, surf n' turf.
