Broadway BBQ Coming to Somerville

A new barbecue restaurant called Broadway BBQ is planning to open in Somerville at 118-120 Broadway, according to the notes from a recent licensing commission meeting. The records say that an entity by that name is requesting a license transfer from the former New Asia Restaurant to be used at that address.

A tipster brought the news to light and also shared a hunch: what if Broadway BBQ isn't Broadway BBQ at all but another existing restaurant trying to be stealthy? Another existing restaurant called Redbones, perhaps, who had previously looked at that very same space? It seems unlikely that two different bolts of barbecue lightening would consider striking in the same location, but for now there's no official word. Broadway BBQ, if that is its real name, would be joining The Bearded Pig, another barbecue restaurant also slated for Somerville.
