A new restaurant called Mixtura serving Peruvian and Latin fusion is now open on Beacon St. in Somerville, reports Boston Restaurant Talk. An employee tells Eater that Mixtura opened last month, and BRT reports that it's run by the team who operate Union Square's Machu Picchu (and also Machu Picchu Charcoal Chicken & Grill). It occupies the space formerly known as Great Taste Diner, and per the restaurant's website, its menu is a mixture (hence the name) of Peruvian, Salvadorian, and Mexican cuisine. Looks like Taranta chef Jose Duarte's prediction for 2012 is coming true: “We know Peruvian cuisine is something around the corner," he told the Globe at the start of this year. The website also issues the following boast: "It's like a traditional diner, only with more creative food that tastes a lot better than any diner in the Boston area." Got that, Strip-T's?
