Over 300 Employees Suing Back Bay Restaurant Group

A small army of past and present employees - over 300, in fact - have banded together to sue the Back Bay Restaurant Group over wage discrepancies. The Globe reports that the lawsuit "accuses the company of failing to pay minimum wages and overtime to servers, bartenders, and other staff." Filed in 2010, the suit started when an employee came forward after being asked to work without pay and having his hours adjusted to avoid receiving overtime. He claims that after he complained, he was fired.

The group has run restaurants including the Atlantic Fish Co. and Joe’s American Bar & Grill but sold most of its venues to a private equity firmed called Tavistock Group last year. As reported earlier, the group has also sold 8 of 12 of its Papa Razzi's locations in MA and RI. The suit was filed in 2010 and is now going to a US district court.
