After more than thirty years in business, The Purple Shamrock near Faneuil Hall will be closing this September. Earlier Eater reported that the restaurant and bar's lease would be ending and that it couldn't afford a 60% rent increase: who could? Now 7News confirms that the establishment will indeed be closing at the end of summer. The company that owns the building says that "negotiations are still ongoing" but the Shamrock says that after six month "talks have gone nowhere." However the establishment hopes to reopen elsewhere and is in the process of looking for a new location. Boston Restaurant Talk notes that Glynn Hospitality Group, which operates the Purple Shamrock, also owns The Black Rose, Clery's, and Dillon's.
