The NYC-based cupcake chain Crumbs Bake Shop is now officially open on Federal Street in the Financial District. The company's website announces that today is opening day and a representative has confirmed that news with Eater. The shop serves cupcake varieties such as red velvet and apple cobbler as well as six and a half inch-tall "colossal" cupcakes, which of course can no longer be considered cupcakes. (What does is say about our world that a pig can now fit in a cup but a cupcake can't?) Crumbs has locations in seven other states, but today marks its first foray into MA. It adds to a scene already resplendent with local cupcake bakers like The Cupcakory and Kickass Cupcakes and will soon be joined by DC's Georgetown Cupcake.
