The luxury-oriented French association of Relais & Châteaux has given Barbara Lynch's Menton the title of Grand Chef Relais & Châteaux, making the Fort Point restaurant the first in Boston to achieve that status. That makes Lynch the only female Grand Chef among the 19 in North America, including Daniel Boulud, Thomas Keller, and Daniel Humm. “I am incredibly honored and humbled that Menton has received this wonderful distinction and so proud of my endlessly creative and hard working team for making Menton the special restaurant that it is,” says Lynch, whose rags to riches story just got richer.

Other Menton accolades include a four star review from the Globe, being named one of the best new restaurants in 2010 by Bon Appétit and Esquire and a 2011 James Beard Foundation Award nomination for the category of Best New Restaurant. A R&C representative tells the Globe that only 2 new restaurants are named each year. How does one achieve the honor? For one thing, you have to pay $7,000 to $10,000.
