Slate Bar & Grill officially opened last week, bringing a new drinking and dining option to the Financial District with service three meals a day. Slate occupies what was once a Brigham's and comes to you from the Ledge Kitchen & Drinks team, who clearly like restaurant with ampersands. Breakfasts are dominated by protein, like steak and eggs and a breakfast sandwich called The Bull, which is a patty of ground beef, a fried egg, ham and American cheese. Lunches include flatbreads, burgers, and an entire section devoted to melts (including the increasingly popular Cuban option), and dinners feature rib-stickers like hanger steak and cassoulet. Also, lots of booze.
