Piperi Mediterranean Grill officially opened this morning at One Beacon Street just a flatbread's toss away from Government Center. The new restaurant from former Au Bon Pain and Mantra chef Thomas John nailed its expected opening date, announced that doors were open via Facebook and held a soft-opening over the weekend: see here for a write-up from local food blogger limeduck. Piperi features a customizable menu based around gozi - a Turkish-ish flatbread the restaurant has trademarked - with dishes such as falafel available as salads, sandwiches, or mezze plates. While this is the world's only Piperi, the fact that the name of the bread is trademarked suggests that the company has bigger plans in store.
