Friends of Eater Describe 2012 in One Word

If you buy something from an Eater link, Vox Media may earn a commission. See our ethics policy.

As is the tradition at Eater, our closeout of the year is a survey of friends, industry types, bloggers, and readers. For our first questions, friends of Eater weighed in on their top restaurant standbys and favorite newcomers. And now, it's time for 2012 in one word. Readers, please add your own to the comments.

Q: How would you describe 2012 in one word?

MC Slim JB, restaurant critic, The Phoenix: Ramenmania!

Marc H., Boston's Hidden Restaurants and Boston Restaurant Talk: Chef-driven.

South End blogger BosGuy: Delayed... I cannot think of a single restaurant that opened even remotely near their original date. When dozens of restaurants miss their opening date because of delays imposed by the city there is clearly an issue. Hopefully this can be rectified in 2013.

An anonymous industry insider who we'll call Litchi Bear: Honest.

Aaron Kagan, editor, Eater Boston: Small-plated.

Rachel Cossar, ballet dancer with the Boston Ballet and food blogger at foodista on pointe: Gastro-pub?

Tom O'Keefe of BostonTweet: Fast.

Jacqueline Church, local food writer. Mixed.

Damien S., community manager for Yelp Boston. Pickled.

Audrey Giannattasio of Boston Foodie Tours: Foodlicious!

TJ Connelly, DJ for the Red Sox and founder of onthebar : Over.

Jennifer Che, blogger at Tiny Urban Kitchen: Ramen.
