SOMERVILLE - The Joshua Tree in Davis Square is once again open following a bout of renovations that began earlier this month. "Top it off with an ice cold beer from our BRAND NEW DRAFT SYSTEM!" says the excited bar via Facebook. [FB]

NYC - The Todd English restaurant Olives, which got its start here in Charlestown, did not fare well when the Globe dropped in after its recent reopening, and now the Olives in New York gets similarly critical feedback from Michael Kaminer of New York Daily News. He says the spicy chicken meatballs "veer dangerously close to T.G.I. Friday's territory." [NYDN via Eater NY]

ALLSTON - Sabatino's Italian Kitchen on Comm Ave had a less than merry Christmas. First the cops were called "to deter people from loitering and causing disturbances," and then a guy punched a hole through the window. [Wicked Local]
