DOWNTOWN CROSSING - Back Deck, which opened last summer with grilling at its core, is starting a new special based around "slow-grilled" dishes inspired by various cuisines. These will be available as entrees and as part of a three-course prix fixe on some Sundays. For instance, the "Spanish Supper" includes grilled chorizo with figs; a lamb shoulder marinated in sherry and garlic and served with aioli, new potatoes, spinach with pine nuts and raisins; and the Spanish shortbreads known as Mantecados. Stars January 1, for more details call 617.670.0320. [Official Site]

CHELSEA - Chelsea's Mi Salvador & Mexicano Restaurant is getting a new, private back room this month, says the Globe. "It will be filled with beautiful art." [BG]

HUB-WIDE - The British alcoholic ginger beer called Crabbies recently became available in Boston for the first time, according to a press release from a representative from the company. Crabbies can now be found at The Haven in JP, Emmet's Irish Pub and The Black Rose downtown, and The Banshee in Dorchester. [Official Site]
