Tim Maslow, the former Momofuku Ssam Bar chef de cuisine and the current chef at Watertown supernova Strip-T's, recently told Eater that he's planning an expansion to Brookline, and now there appear to be details about where he's going and what the new restaurant will be called. A tipster writes in to say that Maslow is planning to move into what is currently Tamarind Bay at 1665 Beacon St, which is indeed in Washington Square, which is where Maslow said he was headed. The tipster also hears that the venue may be called Ribelle, and receives their intel from a letter from the town regarding a liquor license transfer hearing. BostonChefs hears the same. So if that information proves correct, then no, this isn't just going to be another Strip-T's exactly like the existing one.
Maslow previously told Eater to expect a March opening, and Ribelle appears to be Italian for "rebel," so perhaps the cuisine of Italy will make a stronger showing this time. Of course if this information proves true, it would spell the end for Tamarind Bay, though there's another in Harvard Square. Stay tuned for further updates and drop any of your own to the tipline.
Update: Tim Maslow confirms that his new restaurant will indeed be at 1665 Beacon St.
