Maximo's Takeout Temporarily Closes; Panera Cares Cafe

DOWNTOWN - Panera Bread Co. plans to open a Panera Cares cafe in Center Plaza in early 2013. The Herald reports that the cafe would operate under a "pay-what-you-can" model. [BH]

WATERTOWN - Maximo's Takeout on Mt. Auburn Street is temporarily closed. A post on Chowhound reports a sign to that effect in the restaurant's window, and the Maximo's voicemail recording confirms it. A local tipster tells Eater that the temporary closure could be permanent: stay tuned and hit up the tipline with any details of your own. [CH]

ROXBURY - In urban agriculture news, a startup called Freight Farms is now in business selling year-round micro-farms inside of shipping containers, says the Boston Business Journal. Katsiroubas Brothers wholesale produce distributor now has two stacked on top of one another in Newmarket Square: think any restaurants will stick one out back? [BBJ]
