Gyu-Kaku will soon open in the former Ginza space in Brookline, according to a post on Craigslist today seeking a restaurant manager. When the opening was first reported over the summer, a representative said that the opening would occur in November at the earliest. The 130-seat restaurant will feature yakiniku, or Japanese barbecue; diners grill meats themselves at the table. Gyu-Kaku has more than 700 locations worldwide, spread around Asia as well as North America, but this will be the first location in New England. The menu varies slightly among the different locations, but a look at the menu for the East Village location in New York City reveals a la carte dishes as well as mega combo deals for groups of people. The Yokozuna combo, for example, costs $320 for ten people and includes a selection of appetizers and side dishes, countless plates of meat and seafood for grilling, some vegetables, and s'mores for dessert.
