A new Chinese restaurant opens soon in a strip mall on Somerville Ave., currently most notable for the Seabra supermarket. While the sign for the upcoming Chow n' Joy announces "fine Asian cuisine," a man working in the near-complete space yesterday evening said simply "Chinese" when asked about the food. He indicated that the opening was a few weeks away and that the restaurant will have about twenty seats. It appears that the focus will be on takeout, however. While construction seems to be mostly complete, the restaurant is still fairly devoid of furniture and decor, aside from freshly painted bright orange walls, a glossy wood booth, and an empty fish tank. Chow n' Joy does not appear to have a website or social media presence yet. A Chowhounder previously noted the restaurant's existence, adding, "Something tells me that this will be ever so slightly less chow-worthy than YumeWoKatare."
