From hiring a new chef on reality television to penning a memoir of her restaurant life, MET Restaurant Group owner Kathy Sidell has certainly been busy lately. The forthcoming memoir, When I Met Food: Living the American Restaurant Dream, tracks Sidell's path from a childhood surrounded by food lovers to her early career as a film producer, and finally to where she stands now, a businesswoman and restaurateur with six restaurants under her belt.
Of course, what food memoir would be complete without some recipes? A look at an advanced copy reveals that most chapters are packed with at least two recipes relevant to the narrative, from MET steak sauce to MET black and white cookies. The latter follows up a juicy passage about customers' liaisons in restaurant restrooms.
Readers can expect a strong and entertaining narrative from Sidell, whose background making films, she believes, parallels opening a restaurant. The book will be released on November 20.
