El Centro chef-owner Allan Rodriguez tells Eater that he hopes to open the Brookline expansion of his popular, Sonoran-leaning South End Mexican restaurant by mid-December. Rodriguez pins the number of seats at 25, says there will be a "small bar," and a nearly identical menu as the one at the original. One difference will be the decor, which Rodriguez says will be "more contemporary," and which he is personally assembling from his own trips to Mexico: one recent find includes soon-to-be-repurposed doors from an old barn. The new El Centro plans to serve lunch from 11am to 3pm, dinner from 5pm to 10pm, and weekend brunch. That said, Rodriguez is flexible about his plans, and says he will also "work around the reaction" from the neighborhood.
