Barismo in East Arlington is moving a few doors down and growing in size, thereby becoming more of an actual coffeeshop than the current location, which lacks seats and tables. Pete Cannon of barismo and its affiliated Cambridge coffeeshop dwelltime says the company "outgrew" 169 Mass Ave and luckily found a bigger home at 171 Mass Ave. Cannon says the new address is more than twice the size of the original, and though much of it will still be devoted to wholesale and roasting, he also says that the retail bar will be expanded "with the potential to have seating and a small pastry menu (from our kitchen at dwelltime)." He's hoping to have the new space operational by next month; the old space will stay open until then.
The barismo blog provides a few more details, saying " The main focus will be on our 'by the cup' service" and to expect "a cart service for Syphons and a shift towards more cloth filter brews on bar." Espresso options will similarly include "a simple offering list presented in a traditional format of limited sizes." Given the success of dwelltime - which quickly became a Cambridge favorite despite all of the preexisting Cambridge favorites - and the coffee nerd boom as evidenced by the recent opening of the Counter Culture Coffee training center in Union Square, it only makes sense that barismo would find a way to give the people more of what they want: a place to sit down.
