The beloved Beacon Hill neighborhood Mexican restaurant Villa Mexico has been denied its request to move to a new location. The Stoneham Patch reports that the restaurant will have to depart by the end of the month as its current spot is slated for development. The owners of a nearby building at 12 Grove Street offered Villa Mexico a new lease, but the Beacon Hill Civic Association's Zoning and Licensing Committee found that space's commercial permit to be outdated. In the words of the Patch, "What remains is a policy to keep the interior of Beacon Hill residential." Bessie King, the owner's daughter, did not conceal her disappointment. "We just wanted a chance," she says.
