Joanne Chang Test Drives the Ultimate Oven

Chef-owner Joanne Chang of Flour and Myers+Chang "bakes" a batch of cupcakes in Hasbro's new Easy-Bake Ultimate Oven, which is kind of like watching and Old Master paint with a Spin Art. After a little trouble finding the door, Chang and the Herald's Jill Radsken insert a miniscule tray of reconstituted cupcake mix into what looks like a giant purple hair drier. Chang, a formidable force in the Boston baking scene who owned a non-ultimate Easy-Bake as a child, appears bemused by the device and graciously declares the results "not bad."
