A tipster living in Somerville reports that a new restaurant will be opening in the late spring of 2012 in the space formerly known as The Kirkland on Washington Street near Dali and Bergamot. Said tipster noticed construction on the site and struck up a conversation with "a partner involved in the venture," who provided details about the timeframe of the opening. The Kirkland, alternately known as Studley's, closed in 2007, and earlier reports state that Patrick Buben of the North End's Bacco was investing $1.8 million to purchase and renovate the building to house Deco, a Mediterranean restaurant. Wicked Local Somerville's Andy Metzger cleverly notes that Deco would bring a different artistic movement to the area dominated by the surrealist Dali.
