Harpoon Brewery Seeks to Expand, Add a New Bar

Photo: The Eaten Path

The Harpoon Brewery is going before the city today to gain approval for doubling the space of its visitor center, which would become the site of a new bar. The Herald reports that the brewery expects to see 60,000 visitors in 2012 and would love if they had to pass through the bar on the way in and out: after all, you don't just go to a brewery to gaze at wort. The expansion is surely related to the explosion of interest in craft beer, the nano-brewery boom and the sizzling status of the nearby seaport, not to mention a new bill in the works that could mean looser regulations for small breweries.
