Kika Tapas in Kendall Square is officially open, and from what we've seen of the space, there's nothing quite like it on either side of the river. The taperia is run by the team behind Tapeo on Newbury Street and Solea in Waltham and features standard tapas fare redolent with Spanish ham as well as South American dishes like ceviche and the cheesy Brazilian pao de queijo rolls. This appears to be a tapas restaurant as conceived by Ikea, a funhouse, and the madame of a bordello. The sharp, modern lines of booths and tables are contrasted by complex patterns on the walls and ceilings that look like your father's wildest tie. The color red dominates, and a mural devoted to the films of Spanish director Pedro Almodovar is all lipstick and high heels. Is the food unique like the space? Find out: now open for lunch and dinner.
