The two state senators behind the proposal to bring Happy Hour back to Massachusetts are distancing themselves from their previous position. After first saying that they hoped to make Happy Hour legal by the time the first Massachusetts casino opens, the senators are now advocating for a committee from the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission to review the measure for a year beforehand. The idea was to help restaurants and bars compete with the free drinks at casinos, but concerns over Happy Hour and drunk driving statistics have made their stance more controversial.
