According to EveryBlock, Zai, a sushi and yakitori restaurant coming to the South End, has received its business license, making their as of yet unannounced opening imminent. Owner Kazu Aotani of Snappy Sushi has yet to set a date, though Grub Street notes that Zai has been posting for staff on Craiglist and that the restaurant was originally scheduled to open in September. The South End Patch describes Zai as "Japanese tapas" and says the restaurant's overall layout will remain the same as Joe V's, which previously occupied the space. Zai also plans to host Japanese cultural events each month.
