WATERFRONT - Lovin' Spoonfuls, a community organization that provides food for those in need, is hosting a fundraiser smash billed as "The Ultimate Tailgate Party." The event will be at Sam's in Louis Boston and will feature chefs Ming Tsai of Blue Ginger, Joanne Chang of Flour Bakery and Myers+Chang, Jamie Bissonnette of Coppa and Toro, Cape Cod pop-up restaurateur Will Gillson and Mary Dumont of Harvest. There will also be food from Island Creek Oysters, Del Frisco’s and Ristorante Nebo. Tickets: http://www.lovinspoonfulsinc.org/donate/ [Official Site]

BRIGHTON - The Pakistani-Indian restaurant Darbar receives a favorable write-up in the Globe, which recommends the casual eatery's meat samosas, chicken tikka, kahari gosht, nihari, aloo mutter, and garlic naan. A family run operation serving exotic (to some) comfort food, Darbar also caters to adventurous eaters looking to score some magaz masala, which are lambs brains, and kahari gosht, a goat shank marinated in yogurt. SOUTH END - The annual arrival of Beaujolais Nouveau is always hotly anticipated despite critics who sneer that it's all a marketing ploy for an unimpressive wine. Still, it's fun! Sibling Rivalry will ring in the arrival of this year's vintage while serving noshes like petite croque monsieurs, mushroom strudel and seared beef "Texarkana" with salsa verde and ancho mayo on 11/17, aka International Beaujolais Nouveau Day. Call ahead for tickets: (617) 338-5338. [Boston Chefs]
